previous art

The following is a presentation of the art I've been commissioned to do and some which I have sold.

This is a commissioned painting of a quarter horse named Hailey. She was the pasture buddy for my horse, until she was sold to my family

This is commissioned painting of horses which were/are owned by a friend of Hailey's owner. Left to right: Grace (broodmare), Luke (colt), Noah, Eli, Hope (yearling), and Tracker (stud, now deceased).

Through the bunch of horses above, I was able to go out and see Lily and her 5 day colt Tobias, his father is Tracker. Later I sold the painting to the owner.

Sometime later Hailey had a colt, Baron, by Tracker. I sold this to Hailey's owner after completion.

Here is another piece of Eli and Noah, this one as a commissioned colored pencil drawing (16 x 20 in.)

This was one of my first sold paintings. It is an acrylic on 8 x 10 canvas of Ruby and Roma, two beautiful Percheron mares.

This is a commissioned watercolor painting of two Belguin mares, Grace and Daisy. The owners knew Ruby and Roma's owner. I've gotten to know a group of draft horse owners and have done many paintings for them.

This is a colored pencil drawing of Grace.

Here is another painting I did of some more draft horses, Floree and Sally, pulling a manure wagon at a organic farm only worked with horses.

This was a complicated commission, a little much, but I did what she wanted.... the lady with her favorite horse in the barn, her husband on a tractor in the field with the rest of the horses, a Ford truck (same model her dad had when she was a kid), her two grandsons with her pony and dog.

I sold this at my community college's art show when I was working on my Associates. This is of Baron (Hailey's colt). This was a colored pencil, 16 x 20 in.

This was another piece I sold at the student art show.

This is a commissioned colored pencil by my late neighbor for her husband of his dog, Brandy.

Another colored pencil commission of a dog, Peanut Butter, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

Another colored pencil piece of one of my friends, her dog Zip and favorite horse, Deneb.

So, these were some of my piece I've done, as far back as 2005 to about 2009.

Cowboy Palooza

These are the paintings which I sent to New Mexico as a birthday present by a wrangler I worked with last year for another wrangler I worked with last year, also.

This one is a collagraph I did in my printmaking class last fall. I used a combination of methods, the black is intalio (the ink is ground into the recesses of my cut-paper plate) and the tan color is printed in relief. I applied the black, wiped the plate leaving the ink only in the grooves and then rolled on the tan to create this print.

Here's another one I did in printmaking, it's a technique called chine collé monotype print. I cut out an image of him riding a ranch bronc in the rodeo and then used it in my print.

This is a watercolor painting I did for Advanced Topics this Spring and I painted it from a photo I took last summer at Philmont.

This is another painting I did for the same class. I don't know why it was upload the wrong way. *grumble grumble grumble*

And I sent this one to be given to the bosses of the Horse Department. I remember one of the three bosses asked me one day after looking at a horse I seared into leather ... "Elizabeth, what are you doing here shoveling shit, when you are so damn good at art." I told him, "Sir, I'm here to observe and learn so that I can make it into art." HAHAHA ....

what a view

Yesterday I sold a painting I did of a view from the golf course I work at. It's from the sitting on the cart path of the 13th tee box and I did it while referencing photos I took and remembering the little unfinished painting I did on site a couple weeks ago. One of the golf course members heard that I was painting the view and told me that he had first dibs on the painting, since he proposed to his wife in that very spot. So, yesterday he came into the Pro Shop (where I work) and we exchanged money and the painting. He said that he's going to give it to his wife after he frames and mats it. And so, this is the painting ....

(Princess) Havi

I just finished my second painting and I decided to take a picture of it in the fading light of dusk. So, this is of Havi, a rescued pit mix, and I had fun with her personality (I read up on her in her blog).

This was the photo which won the poll her parents did to help decided which one best portrayed their beloved hound.

Sometimes black animals can be boring black. But I decided to play with the hidden color: violets, blues, brown ... Along with so colorful washes for atmosphere which went with what kind of dog I understand her to be: a princess who is well loved. Thus, I painted this!

Pallo!!!

Last night I finished my first small free painting for My life with flyball dogs.

Here is the picture I worked from.

And here is the painting I created!

I love Pallo's facial expression!!! It's like "I'm going sooooo fast, I can't stop!" hahaha. XD

moving right along...

Today is a beautiful day and I've finally had time to work on some art. I'm working on K-Koira's painting today and I'll have it done soon. I'm still waiting on others to let me know which image they want me to paint, and people to finish voting on which picture to do of Havi, check it out and vote!

I've been busy working at a local golf course in the Pro Shop and spending time with my family and future fiance, John. I'll be posting a picture as soon as I finish the painting and I'm in the process of shipping a couple paintings.

This one is going to the parents of the cowboy I painted.

And I'm working on a couple more watercolors and prints which are going to be a birthday present, so I'm not going to post the pictures until they get it. ;-)

I hope everyone else is having a great day!

Congrats are in order!

I'd have to say congratulations to the first five followers and congratulations to myself. Hahaha ... Because I've had my blog for 7 months now and this is the first time I've had followers! Now I'm not just posting things for "myself" ... I have victims, I mean people (and pets) who are interested in my art. Oh happy day. :-D

For the first fivers, let me know what image you have that you would like to be made into a small piece of art!

minor announcement

So, I've decided that I need to do some painting this summer ... duh. And I'd love to get ides from others and I'm going to do some little paintings for the first 5 people who "follow" my blog. I've already got 2 followers, so the next 3 will be in luck. :-)

I will do a small painting of an image of your choice. Please no professionally/copyrighted images. You can contact me via email, found here.
