Tamanawas Falls Hike

Friday I went for a hike with some photo buddies and their pooch up to Tamanawas Falls. All along the way there's so many beautiful places to stop and enjoy and photograph the wonderful colors and scenery.

I hope these photos help with my lack of words today.

Latourell Falls Funshop

Last Saturday I went to my first photography class! I've had my Canon Rebel T3i nearly one year ago. Since I've gotten it I've only shot in manual, choosing my aperture, exposure length and ISO, all by reading blogs and browsing Pinterest.

I went to a Funshop with Gary Randall at Latourell Falls. He even has another (3 day) workshop at Opal Creek, sign up if you're in the area!

The biggest thing I learned was how to read and utilize the histogram. *light bulb*

I walked up the creek and kept my lens cloth handy because of the mist from the waterfall. After photographing Lower Latourell Falls we walked down stream to the little park and found the cutest set up of a table and two chairs. We found out that it was a scene for a proposal (and she said "YES").

I hope you enjoy the photos I took during the little Funshop.
Thanks for looking!

Umbrella Falls Hike

I've been going on as many hikes as possible this summer, inviting friends to come with me to experience the wonderful, great, outdoors.

Friday I went on a hike to Umbrella Falls. It was a nice quiet hike with enough hills to keep my heart rate up (which isn't hard. hahaha). The water is still really low and I'm really happy that the sky wasn't filled with smoke from all the fires (the wind was taking a break for the day).

All in all, it was a nice hike, even though my mesh shoes collected half the silt dust. :-)

I hope you enjoy the photos I took on my hike.

Perseids Shower

The adventure began Wednesday night, I went to sleep and then my husband woke me up around 12:50 am when he got home from work. We grabbed my camera, tripod, shutter remote, warm clothes and blankets.

Aa he drove our Highlander through the night, up in the sky we saw streaks coming down towards Earth. We pulled into the White River parking lot and laid down some blankets, set up my tripod, did some test shots, and then let my camera go for a couple hours and looked three different directions for different amounts of time.

It was a wonderful night with someone I love while watching the Perseids Meteor Shower.

When I have more time I have some ideas for some of the other photos.

1. Meteorite streaking towards Timberline Lodge.
2. Star Trail!
3. Milky Way with meteorite.

Mt. Hood Star Trail

This weekend I went with my husband out to the Boy Scout summer camp we used to work at. We also go out with some of our friends to a certain place and since I thought ahead and brought out my camera, tripod, and shutter release remote.

My first time with a series of photos taken and a couple YouTube videos later .... my first star trail photo! And if you look carefully, you'll see Mount Hood under the super tall trees.

Enjoy!
