Legend | Watercolor Painting

"Legend"

12" x 12"
Watercolor, 2015

So this little guy is Legend. You might remember him from when I took some newborn photos of him, and when he was a month old. This painting captures him at one month old as a HyTyme Drum Horse.

This painting was part of my 2015 Solo Art Show, Western Gold. And I'm proud to say this little medicine hat colt (the painting version) has found a happy home. Thank you to me newest collector!

Boomer | Christmas Ornament

Boomer

Who can resist this happy little face? I know a good friend of his owner's commissioned this as a Christmas present for them this year and I bet she loved it. ;-)

Charlotte | Christmas Ornament

Charlotte

This is a very cute Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy, but what little puppy isn't cute? This was another Christmas present commission and I was told that the owners of this cute little girl are going to keep the likeness of her up all year.

Max | Christmas Ornament

Max

What a spunky little terrier. I grew up with some Jack Russell terriers when I was a kid living in town. I loved playing with them. Their names were Spanky and (I forget the other ones' name - it was 22 years ago) ...

Molly | Christmas Ornament

Molly

Molly: A Golden Life

I have a soft spot for Goldens, I grew up with one and she was so smart, so sweet, and so loving. Someday I would love to have another one. Molly's owner told me that she was everything a Golden Retriever is known for.

December Snow | Photography

Yesterday, John and I went for a little trip up the mountain to look at the snow first hand, also it was our first trip in the snow with the Highlander.

We drove up to Timberline Lodge, but there was a cloud bank up there, so we turned around and headed to White River. But on the way down from Timberline, I snapped a few photos since the sun was giving an amazing glow right before it descended below the horizon.

At White River Sno Park, we met an Eagle Scout (circa 1964) and his cute little pooch. Then John led the way down towards the river and stomped out a spot to set up my tripod. I really needed the tripod since the warm sun rays were no where to be seen. I used a longer exposure and higher ISO to capture the images of the cold, cold White River ambling through the snow frosted rocks.

If all goes to plan, sometime this winter John and I will go snowshoeing. I haven't done that in ages and I'm itching to get somewhere out of the main stream stops.

I hope you enjoy these photos, thanks for looking, and stay warm!

Chase | Christmas Ornament

Chase

This is a memorial ornament for a funny little pug. He was owned by the owner of Kinco (my office day job) and had to be put down before Thanksgiving. He had a full life (survived cancer) and it was his time to move on. He was loved by many people.

Sunoco & Lucky Dog | Christmas Ornaments

Sunoco

Lucky Dog

These pups are both rescues. Sunoco is an American Akita and Lucky Dog is an Akita Inu (Japanese Akita). I've been told that they are loving their new home and their people love them. They both have their own personality and it shines through in their eyes.

Holly | Watercolor Painting

"Holly"

12" x 12"
Watercolor, 2015

I do love going out to HyTyme Drum Horses and visiting with them, especially in the heat of summer. I go after work and arrive about 2 hours before sunset and it's cool there, with the warm smell of horses.

This is Holly. She is the mother of Epic. Holly is a little bit smaller than the other Drum Horses, but just as beautiful. The sun is low and she is gently backlit by dusk while finding crunchy grass in the middle of summer.

This painting is one of many that I created for my 2015 Solo Art Show: Western Gold.

Multnomah Falls in the Fall

Night falls quickly in Oregon now ...

I left a little early from work on day to chase a waterfall in the brisk November evening. I just headed up the historic highway and meandered through the golden clothed trees. I spontaneously stopped at Multnomah Falls. Usually I avoid Multnomah Falls like the plague because 95% of the time it is overrun by tourists. But not this particular evening. The daylight was fading and the temperature made me want to curl up with a cozy blanket and good book in front of a fireplace.

Owyhee Night Sky | Photography

We were camped along Lake Owyhee, which is a reservoir that is over 20 miles long! We had the perfect camping spot for me to do some experimenting with night photography.

Th first one is my first experiment with a long exposure. I usually do a series of photos and then Photoshop them together to create the star trails, but this time I took one long exposure. I believe this one is about 12 minutes. You may notice all the stars are swirling around one star. The stationary star is the North Star, Polaris, which is always true north and never moves.

The second one is another long exposure, but this time it's of the dam. There are red, white, and blue lights on the dam, and I was successful of doing another long exposure which also highlighted the rotation of the Earth.

Owyhee River Wildlife | Photography

While my husband was spending time in the river with the fishes, I spent time exploring ... rocks, tree groves, quiet places along the river and I found these beauties! Enjoy!
